Yes! There are quite a few SEO mistakes which can be easily avoided. Let us explain the ones which you should remember:

  1.  Not Using Any SEO Plugin – If you have a WordPress website and you are not using any SEO plugin then you are simply playing your cards wrong. Get in touch with your SEO consultant to know which plugins would best suit your website.
  2. Using Free WordPress Themes / Plugins – Free things always offer cheap labor on your websites. Due to this reason, they are always bad for the SEO of your website and Plugins are mostly faulty. It is never advisable to opt for any free themes or plugins till you are 100% sure of their integrity.
  3. Don’t Check Your Website Stats By The Minute – Yes! Using Google Analytics to check your website is a good habit, but over doing anything is simply wrong. Don’t check your website stats by the minute, check it every once a day.
  4. Importance of Backups – Don’t be lazy and hit the snooze button when it is time to take a backup of your website. It is important to understand the importance of regular backups. Always schedule weekly backup time and never skip them. In dire times of need, if your website is attacked by a hacker, you can easily restore your website to the last backup date. This will save a lot of time and resources. Also remember to change your primary username from Admin to something else to ensure your website is Hack proof.
  5. Always create an Email List – Email Lists are the most important things when running a website. You cannot hope for any sales without having a good load of E-mail contacts. It is never too late to start building an Email list. We always see businesses make this mistake, which is very important to avoid.
  6. Never Change URL’s of Old Posts – One common mistake many newbie webmasters make is that they change the URL of old posts when reviving them. This will hamper all the links that you might have earned through that post in the meantime. Do not change old URLs.
  7. Importance of Basic Pages – Basic pages are like the About Us Page, Contact Us Page, etc. It is important to keep these pages updated all the time, otherwise how will potential clients ever reach your business even if they find your website in the Search Engines?
